The ismartgate requires a power source to function, it is not enough to connect the device to your opener to open and close the door. You can connect the device directly to a regular AC Socket with the power adapter provided. But in case you want to use a battery or connect to a Gate opener that has power output connections, you would need a converter, further information can be found here.
